Future space logistics?

The concept of space elevator has been around for a long time already. Now the advances in materials technology could actually enable manufacturing the wire. Potential material solutions include carbon nanotube structures. So why did I want to share this quite futuristic logistics concept? It seems that there is rather active research community developing elevators that could lift things up to orbit and even further. Below you can see some quite interesting videos from "Kansas City Space Pirates" YouTube channel if found while surfing on the net.

Like in all logistics the cost aspect is important. The elevator would not be inexpensive at least in the beginning. Somebody actually made a cost engineering analysis page on wiki on this.
