ICIL 2008 – Wednesday – Field trip at the Dead Sea Works

Today we visited Dead Sea Works, a manufacturer and worldwide distributor of chemical products including various grades of potash, KCl, magnesium chloride, and sodium chloride. The company is using desert solar energy and heat to evaporate the Dead Sea water. The end products of Dead Sea Works are shipped all around the world, including Brazil, India and China by using different bulk handling systems to operate from both Mediterranean and Red Sea sides.

On the way back we visited at Massada – the ancient Herodian fortress and learned the tragedy of the Zealots, its last defenders. We will upload some photos from this field trip later on on the ICIIL web pages.

Wow! I'm so envious of you, maybe other people as well. I've been using dead sea products. But I still wonder how's the experience of the real dead sea.
